AI and the Future of Amazon Selling

AI (Artificial intelligence) is evolving at a dizzying speed, and it’s materially changing how we work in every industry. Ecommerce broadly—and selling on Amazon specifically—is no exception. If anything, selling on Amazon is going to be impacted even more than other domains because it fits so well into the strengths of current AI tech. Additionally, virtually all of the foundation Large Language Models (LLM) out there were trained on tons of Amazon listings and documents so they come out of the box with a staggering amount of domain knowledge.

A lot of Amazon sellers, businesses, and agencies are already using AI to:

  • Generate and optimize listing pages
  • Monitor and predict inventory needs
  • Track Amazon seller data and business metrics
  • Analyze and orchestra Amazon PPC advertising
  • And generate product images

While all of these are exciting and valuable use cases, I think it’s only scratching the surface of what’s possible with this technology.

To give you a basic sense, we’re seeing hundreds of sellers already asking questions like:

  • “Did it help when I updated my listing and images on March 10th?”
  • “Show me the profitability of each of my products in Germany.”
  • “Tell me how my advertising is performing across my product lines.”
  • “Let’s work out an inventory replenishment plan, step by step, for next quarter”
  • “Are any of my products hurting profitability? How can I improve that?”

We’re calling this Conversational Analytics, because you really can treat it like messaging a colleague who’s good with data. No magic prompts or specific training required—just an easy conversation with big business impacts.

Zooming out for a bit and looking at where this might all lead, I think AI will (and already is) level the playing field for eCommerce. Capabilities that used to be wildly expensive—and therefore limited to big vendors or enterprise players—will increasingly be accessible to any seller or agency for an affordable price that doesn’t eat into your unit economics.

This will look different to different sellers. For some, it might be automating the work of a multi-person marketing design team with image generation software. For others, that’ll be delivering more effective programmatic advertising.

For Junglytics customers, it will mean effectively having a data-science team in the form of our AI-powered Assistant—helping to optimize their Amazon businesses with essential insights that would’ve taken weeks of manual work or prohibitively expensive custom software, data pipelines, and the staff and time to use leverage it all.

If even half of the rumors are true about the next generation of LLM, we’re in store for another giant stair step up in terms of capabilities. I can’t see how anyone not using AI will be able to compete with those who find ways to effectively adopt these rapidly emerging new tools and capabilities.

The organizations and individuals who embrace this trend are going to be on top of the hill in the next couple of years—if not sooner!
